eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to maintain and support the reliability, scalability, and operability of the software systems powering our trapped-ion quantum computers.Responsibilities:As a Site Reliability Engineer – Quantum Computing (f/m/d), you will contribute to the reliability, stability, and operability of our software that operates our quantum computers. You will work closely with software engineers, firmware developers, physicists, and hardware engineers in an interdisciplinary environment, gaining deep insight into a cutting-edge technical domain. This is an on-site position in Siegen or Hamburg. Depending on your background, you will work on the following tasks:Contribute to the reliability of the quantum control and quantum program execution stackSupport the definition and refinement of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and operational guardrailsImplement and maintain observability across software, infrastructure, and hardware-adjacent layersParticipate in incident response, post-mortems, and root cause analyses for system failuresIdentify operational risks and propose mitigation strategiesDrive automation initiatives to reduce toil and improve system stabilityMaintain operational standards, runbooks, and documentationContribute to CI/CD and release processes with a focus on reliability and safe deploymentsCollaborate with development teams to support production-ready system designRequired Skills:Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience2–4 years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Systems engineeringExperience operating and stabilizing complex systems in production or lab environmentsHands-on experience with containerized and orchestrated environmentsPractical knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability toolingExperience participating in incident response processesGood technical documentation skillsAbility to reason through engineering trade-offsFluent written and spoken EnglishWe value:Experience in hardware-adjacent, lab, or cyber-physical systemsBackground in scientific, research, or experimental environments Strong Python skills for automation and toolingExperience with long-running, stateful workloadsFamiliarity with firmware, control systems, or real-time constraintsExperience with programmatic device control (e.g. SCPI, serial, USB, TCP/IP)Prior exposure to quantum computing or other deep-tech domainsWhat you can expect from eleQt
